Hello friends, how's your weekend going? 😊
This morning we had a rather small yet beautiful Meditaction gathering, with 3 of us meditating at the park. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet, as many people have left Geneva for a Summer break, and tourists seem to be fewer than in previous years.
I love this time in the city - streets are spacious again, noise and air pollution levels go down, and the pleasurable and harmonious sounds of Nature are more perceptible than the heavy sounds of human-made machines.
After the morning session, and a great lunch and meeting with one of my good Meditactivist friends, Dil, I took advantage of this peaceful, inspiring Summer aura, to reflect on the next steps for Meditaction. Here are a few ideas I am happy to share with you:
Next 3 to 6 months
The main focus in this initial phase of the project is to keep creating content related to Meditaction's mission, and share it with the world. It is important to establish a good presence online, and offer people quality information as well as easy access to the practice of meditation and all the great benefits it can trigger in human interactions. Not only for individuals, but especially for groups of individuals that work and/or live together.
As essential as giving people the opportunity to access this information and practice online, it is to develop a local community of Meditactivists in Geneva, people who are curious or willing to integrate meditation in their lives while at the same time learning how to better cooperate and use the powers of the collective mind. The Meditaction free sessions will continue to be offered as long as there will be people interested in taking part in this beautiful experience. Our belief is that everyone should be able to practice meditation surrounded by other human beings, in a safe, positive and cost-free environment.
Next 6 to 12 months
This is the moment where the decision of giving a legal structure to Meditaction will probably come. Will it be an organization? An individual company? A society made of different shareholders? I believe any form will do, all of them having advantages and inconvenients. The one thing to keep in mind, is that the chosen legal structure has to help the true vision of the project manifest without deflecting it or estrange it from its initial purpose - which is to make a positive and lasting contribution to the world and humanity at large. Of course it is my desire to be able to live from this project at some point, because I am intending to put most of my time and energy into it in the many years to come. But at this stage in the process, I believe it will be more important to focus on essentials such as creating synergies with people who relate to its vision, finding the first groups of people who will be willing to test our programs locally, and keep spreading our work at a global level.
Next 1 to 5 years
The intention for this phase is to develop solid partnerships with schools, organizations, companies and the State of Geneva to make meditation accessible to as many groups of people as possible. One thing that could be done, since we are lucky to be in Switzerland, is to launch a popular initiative in Geneva, so that the population can decide if they would like their children to have secular, non-religious meditation and well-being classes integrated in school programmes in the state of Geneva. Some people tell me this is ambitious, but if we look at other countries such as the US, Canada, the UK or India, this is already a reality for many. I believe that not only Geneva is ready for this, but that there is actually a pronounced necessity for it to happen in our current times, given the increasing levels of mental problems in children and teenager. And if a local popular initiative succeeds, why not intending a popular initative at a national level too?
Beyond
This can be a time for expansion for the project not only in Switzerland, but also worldwide. In Switzerland, it would be very beneficial to offer a physical space for people to experience Meditaction retreats and seminars, so it would make sense to acquire some property and build a local community around it. And if the project shows to build constructive change in this country, there is no reason not to make it accessible to all people interested everywhere in the world. This can be done both using the internet and other 21st century technologies, but also locally, in different parts of the world, by different groups of people who manifest the desire to make the world a more peaceful and loving place for all to thrive and not just survive.
Final thoughts
Meditaction's vision is a universal, long-lasting, transformative one. Only the power of the collective mind will make it possible. Cooperation among several human beings, different types of ressources and enough dedicated time will all be crucial for its development.
I believe it will all come, at the right time.
This is a co-creative process, so all ideas, insights or any other form of input are very welcome. If this vision resonates with you, do not hesitate to say hi and share your thoughts. 👋
Thanks for being there and helping us make the world a better place 💛
