Surfing the Chaos: Set and Stick to Your Priorities with Meditation

Meditaction priorities

Hello friends, how's life been going since the last time we met here? I hope you're all happy and shining 😊

I've been away from the blog and the youtube channel for a few weeks now, and I really wanted to make it a priority to come back this week. I've actually missed it and thought about it quite a few times. So here I am, happy to write these lines and share a few exciting news with you !

There's a lot going on both for me and for Meditaction. If I haven't been present here lately, it's because there are many other priorities at the moment that need my attention, such as:

🪷 Studying for and passing the Management exams for the Brevet Fédéral (ongoing)

🪷 Working on the next votations for the Electoral Commission (March)

🪷 Organizing and attending a first retreat gathering in Valais in March (ongoing)

🪷 Leading zoom meditation sessions for The Calm Monkey Community (ongoing)

🪷 Traveling to Denmark to welcome a new human being on Earth (March)

🪷 Finding a new flatmate for March (ongoing)

🪷 Attending all courses I've registered to at Innopark (ongoing)

🪷 Preparing Meditaction pitches and presentations for different purposes (ongoing)

🪷 Finishing and uploading the first Meditaction online course (ongoing)

🪷 Organizing a first Yoga Retreats in Ticino and a first Meditaction retreat in Vaud (May)

🪷 Organizing a Day of Peace for All with a guided meditation in front of the UN (June)

🪷 Networking, establishing partnerships and collaborations for Meditaction (ongoing)

Other than that, and as probably you or any other human being, I still need to eat, move, sleep, share love and affection, nourish a social life, pay my bills and taxes, stay clean and organized at home, deal with unforeseen circumstances such as a broken coffee machine or replacing a stollen bicycle seat. Plus, I like doing my sun salutations every morning and go to Yvonne's Qi-Gong classes on Monday evenings to align my chakras, meridians and energy levels, go hiking, have a swim or a run now and then and celebrate life with music and dance. Not to mention reading and writing, mindmapping and planning.

Sometimes, finding the balance amidst all these competing demands can feel like navigating through a storm. Yet, I feel that at the heart of this chaos, lies an opportunity for clarity and purpose: setting and sticking to priorities. And there is one priority that comes to me before all other priorities. One that actually helps in guiding towards setting meaningful goals and staying on course among the turbulence. And that is, meditation.

The Role of Meditation in Goal Setting

Meditation isn't just about finding inner peace; it's a practice that also helps us taking meaningful action. It allow us to cultivate mindfulness and self-awareness, essential ingredients for effective goal setting. When we offer ourselves the time to quiet the mind and turn within, we can clarify our values, identify our deepest desires, and visualize a course towards fulfilling them.

Here's how meditation can be a game-changer in the act of setting goals:

  1. Clarity Through Stillness: In the chaos of everyday life, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters to us. Through meditation, we create moments of stillness amidst the noise, allowing our true priorities to emerge from the distractions. By regularly practicing meditation, we can sharpen our focus and gain clarity on the goals that are most aligned with our values and aspirations.

  2. Visualization for Manifestation: Visualization is a powerful tool for goal setting, and meditation provides the perfect platform for its practice. During meditation sessions, we can vividly imagine ourselves achieving our goals, picturing every detail of our success. By repeatedly visualizing our desired outcomes, we reinforce our commitment to them and prime our minds for taking the necessary actions to turn dreams into reality.

  3. Mindful Planning: Setting goals is not just about dreaming big; it's about breaking down those dreams into actionable steps. Meditation increases a state of mindfulness that allows us to approach goal setting with a calm and focused mind. As we contemplate our objectives during meditation, we can discern the specific actions required to attain them, picturing a roadmap that guides our efforts with purpose and intention.

  4. Overcoming Obstacles: Goal pursuit is rarely a smooth journey; obstacles and setbacks are inevitable. However, meditation equips us with the resilience and inner strength needed to overcome these challenges. By cultivating a non-judgmental awareness of our thoughts and emotions, we can respond to setbacks with a sense of equanimity, learning from them and adjusting our course as needed without losing sight of our ultimate objectives.

Meditaction's Practical Techniques for Goal Setting:

  • Setting an intention for the day during morning meditation (it really helps !)

  • Using visualizations and affirmations related to main goals right after meditation

  • Journaling right after meditation (you'll be surprised of how clear your mind can be !)

  • Doing regular check-ins throughout the day (stopping to breathe and pause with the intention of coming back to what's essential can really do magic to your productivity)

Instead of being caught up in the storm of our modern world distractions, why not letting meditation be our guiding light towards a life of purpose and fulfillment ? 🧘

(I'm setting the priority to come back here soon 🤗)

Much love and a happy week to all,

💗

Tati
